Western Editorial Review
Meditations: The Annotated Edition is a highly respected translation of Marcus Aurelius's work, praised for its accessible style and valuable annotations. The Gregory Hays translation is often considered the best, yet this edition by Robin Waterfield offers a refreshing perspective, particularly through its insightful context. Readers find the annotations especially useful for understanding the Stoic philosophy in depth, as they provide essential background. The book spans 384 pages, making it a substantial read, but some have noted issues with production quality like thin paper, making it less suitable for note-taking. Regardless, it remains a treasured edition for those interested in Stoicism.
