The battery compartment is child-safe and requires a tiny screwdriver to open. The spur is turned on and off using a button on the side, rather than being motion activated. Unfortunately, the product is sold as a single spur, rather than in pairs. Customer reviews for the Nathan Light Spur were mixed. Some found it to be a great product that was very visible, while others experienced dead batteries upon arrival or after some use. Some replacements also did not work.
