Catan Junior is an excellent board game for children aged 4+. Although there are some rules involved, children can handle it themselves once they understand them. The game is a lot like regular Catan with a few changes here and there and a greater focus on strategy. Gameplay is easy to understand with reference cards and a simplified gameboard layout. This game is perfect for quality family time. Although some kids may find it too complex and boring, many children as young as five enjoy playing it. The heavy cardboard stock for resource cards is very durable. However, some complaints include the game taking too long to set up, and it can be too easy to win against a child which can make it less fun for kids who are sore losers.
