Stephen King's "Christine" is a satisfying horror novel with perfect pacing and a wonderful villain in the classic old car of the same name. Whilst technology and slang are dated, they create a realistic time and place. The book was enjoyed by readers of all ages, including high school students, and received critical acclaim. The narrative structure is unusual with three large narrated sections, the first and third cropping up from one and the same narrator, the second by a third person omniscient narrator. The way the book was presented felt inelegant. However, King managed to create an excellent horror story that was invested with the believability and depth of feeling to make readers care about it.
