What truly elevates Enemy Within is the introduction of new elements such as genetic and cybernetic soldier upgrades through the innovative "Meld" resource. This feature allows players to customize their soldiers, adding a unique twist to squad development and tactics. While some players may find the MEC units less useful compared to genetically enhanced soldiers, the ability to tailor your squad's capabilities adds a fresh layer of strategy to the game. Mission diversity shines throughout the campaign, featuring both procedurally generated scenarios and scripted missions that introduce new narrative elements, such as the Exalt organization.
